Han Vi, Illustrator
As an illustrator I aim to create pieces that defy the idea of “societal norms”. My work is done in bright gouache palettes to emphasize the absurd elements, and to create a playful juxtaposition between the childish colors and the more sexual subject matter.
My portfolio consists of work that I try to personalize around this theme. I employ the use of symbolic imagery in many of my pieces to communicate with viewers. It is also used to insert suggestive connotations in pieces that are seemingly innocuous. My work is inspired by artists like Warhol and Yusuke Nakamura, who take advantage of iconic imagery in their practices.
